Ariana Claims Her Inheritance
A New Life for Ariana Byrne is Launched
And it’s a real page turner…
I have read some of the reviews for A New Life for Ariana Byrne and I have to agree with them about what a joy it was to read and how uplifting it was – I absolutely adored this book!
When I started reading, I had only intended to read the first chapter as it was a bit later in the evening, an hour later I was still reading despite needing to actually sleep.
Launch Week
Well, it’s two weeks since we launched this book and I thought it would be good to see how it went.
On launch night I did a live reading on Facebook. It was nerve wracking but great fun, if you want to watch, follow this link. It’s mostly me chatting, laughing, drinking champagne and reading a few pages from the book. I read a bit from the very beginning and then the moment she arrives in Norfolk.
Week one was all about the blog tour, the book featured on a variety of book blogger review sites and they all loved it! Got to say that was a huge relief. I sort of knew it was going to be good, because the book had been previously self-published as Under Flint Skies and it had been really well received. Since, then though I’ve been working with my publishers and editors at Hera Books, to make it even better. Looks like the hard work paid off. They have been really fabulous at bringing out the very best in me, I am really enjoying their support and mentoring. Being a writer can be quite isolating so its fabulous when someone has your back.
Reviews
I was quite keen to take on the blog tour for this book because I thought that a light, fun, uplifting romance was just what I might need to brighten up these cold, wet, dull days. I wasn’t wrong, and this book delivered on every level.
Reviews began to pour in and I love some of the authors I am being favourably compared to;
‘this is an exceptional tale fans of Katie Fforde and Jill Mansell are going to love’ – ‘ Fans of Jenny Colgan, Trisha Ashley and Carole Matthews will love this romantic, feelgood read.’ ‘It reminded me a bit of a Milly Johnson book.‘
Those are some impressive names to stand alongside and whilst I am very much the new kid on the block, it’s a nice block to be standing in. (In? On? At? – Must ask my editor)
Rankings
I hit the ground running on Kobo hitting Number 4 in Contemporary Romance and Number 14 in Fiction & Literature. You could have knocked me over with a feather.
Amazon was a slow burn but then suddenly things started to wake up and I’m currently Number 1 in Architecture (? yes, I don’t know either) and Number 2 in Divorce. More oddities, but overall I am ranked #1315 on all sales, which is actually a pretty decent number for a newbie. I’m sure I’ll settle down into the correct categories soon.
I can’t see my figures for Apple stores but hopefully I’m doing well there as well.
Characters
What I am loving is how many people are connecting to the characters and commenting on them. Plot and writing are obviously essential parts of a good tale but sometimes you just need a person to get behind.
I loved Ari she was such a great character that I could not help but cheer for.
Such an engaging story filled with fabulous characters!
There are some appalling characters in the shape of her husband and in-laws that you will love to hate, and they produce some real laugh out loud moments in the book.
I loved that there were so many strong female personalities
The author’s writing had the beauty and warmth of the first sunshine in spring where everything felt new. I loved Ari, she was everything a main character ought to be. Her love for her kids and sisters was beautifully reflected off the words chosen in the prose.
Honestly, it’s overwhelming. I can’t tell you how much a good review nourishes the soul. Especially as I am now doing the edits for Paddy’s book, which will be released in July. It seems odd to be actively promoting Ari, whilst desperately trying to get Paddy ready, but seeing Ari’s success spurs me on.
